For the most part, yes.
View all comments. But there is one bright spot and that is Dorian. The character – hir least as he was originally written – would not accept any excuse for keeping his children away from him.
Dark Swan 4 books. View all 23 comments. No she leaves the twins with some human couple and plans on not even seeing them for years until they are old enough to maybe be able to protect themselves. I think a lot of people will love this book, but I just didn’t. Originally from Michigan, Richelle now lives in Seattle, Washington where she works on her three series full-time: She goes on and on about how her love for Dorian is based on the fact that no richelle mead shadow heir what conflict arises between meda, the two are able to work together to handle any issues.
The twins, richelle mead shadow heir prophesy, Kiyo, Dorian, Jasmine, Volusian – all these elements get addressed, and I’m relatively pleased with how most of them are handled.

I became invested in the storyline, and although Eugenie’s deep emotional issues were a source of great discontent, four books isn’t long enough to completely lose sight of the more positive aspects of interesting world-building, intriguing outside conflicts, and well-crafted secondary characters.

Along the way they shafow many supernatural obstacles, backstabbing traitors, and a furry little fox who should have been taken out of richelle mead shadow heir picture a long time ago. Especially after the great steps back Eugenie made as a character and Richelle mead shadow heir in the previous book, Iron Crowned. These are all things Mead does excellently, and they really saved the book for me.
But I accepted it since I was like no this is going to twist later and maybe be great or Dorian will adopt the children and love them as if they were his own. I can’t stand when a series goes on forever just to squeeze out some extra money, but I won’t get into that here. I will say that I was a little bit frustrated. As many of you know, there’s definitely room for more of the story!
Overall this was my least favorite book in the series for one huge reasonwhich I will not reveal to keep from spoiling the book for you. He totally screwed up Eugenie’s life in Iron Crowned!
